Ron May, senior pastor

Prior to planting Ethos, Ron worked for seven years as a teaching pastor at Park Community Church. Ron also worked 13 years as an attorney in Chicago—four years at a large law firm and nine years as a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office. Ron is a graduate of Indiana University and Vanderbilt Law School, and has a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Ron is ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America. He and his wife Jane have lived in Chicago for 25 years; they have three daughters. Contact Ron:, 773-680-0248

Steve and Clare met at open mic in Rogers Park, where they still live along with their daughter Jade and son Ford. Clare grew up in Taiwan as a missionary kid; Steve is from Michigan, which is less exotic but still awesome. christine holt, director of children's worship


Christine is Ethos’ Director of Children’s Ministries. She is excited about helping children develop their first impressions of God and the world He has made. She has studied Bible and theology at Moody Bible Institute,  child development at the Erikson Institute, and children's ministry at Child Evangelism Fellowship. Christine is a nonprofit development professional as well a home-care nursing assistant. Tim Lapetino

Tim was born in Chicago and has lived in the city for more than 20 years. He works in the design industry as a Creative Director and
sometime writer. He lives in Irving Park and is married to Emily Lapetino, with two wonderfully verbal kids, Paige and Max. He leads the Ethos Mens' small group and is passionate about Spirit-led life change, pop culture, film, books and analog electronics of all kinds.

Alex Schwaninger

Alex is a professional counselor who owns Arrow Counseling & Coaching in Chicago. Alex is a small group and community group leader, and is passionate about small groups, discipleship, and one-on-one ministry, and he loves seeing God work in people’s lives through intentional community. He and his wife Kelly have two children.
